2021 Maple Vineyards Zinfandel

VINIFICATION NOTES: The 2021 harvest came slightly early, but the hot days in August ensured perfect ripening. Annie's block and Boo's block were picked September 10th and September 13th respectively. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks for 30-34 days with careful temperature control to preserve the softer, sophisticated style of this wine. Pump-overs were performed twice per day. After fermentation, the wine was barreled down into a combination of 100% French oak barrels, with 23% new oak overall.

VINEYARD NOTES: Fruit for the Maple Vineyards zinfandel comes from two very special blocks of this benchland property in the heart of the Dry Creek Valley (Annie's and Boo's). Maple produces some of Dry Creek’s finest head-trained, dry-farmed zinfandel grapes. The red clay loam soils provide elegant structure and balance to this wine, while Dry Creek’s warm climate ensures bright fruit flavors.

SENSORY NOTES: The 2021 Maple Vineyards zinfandel represents its benchland location perfectly. Captivating scents of cedar and rosemary are complemented by hints of cinnamon, cherry, and caramel. The palate reveals delightful raspberry pastry and cranberry flavors, culminating in a soft and juicy finish. This is an expressive, showy vintage that creates a truly memorable wine.
