2019 The Crossing

VINIFICATION NOTES: The 2019 season provided a wonderful year for growing exceptional quality fruit. 91% of the
blend comes from our Lily Hill Estate, with 9% (all grenache) coming from Mounts Vineyard in Dry Creek
Valley. The Lily Hill syrah was picked on September 28th, the Lily Hill grenache was picked on October 19th,
and the Mounts Vineyard grenache was picked on October 14th. The fruit was then carefully sorted and
destemmed. Twice-daily pumpovers were performed on the syrah, while the grenache was fermented in
open-top tanks and received twice-daily punchdowns. The wine was aged in 20% new oak barrels (100%
French) for 22 months.
VINEYARD NOTES: The Crossing is a beautifully rich and textured red wine that showcases the character and
complexity of Dry Creek Valley. With an alluring structure, this exciting Rhone blend combines Old World
sophistication with vibrant layers of New World fruit.
SENSORY NOTES: A deliciously dark and solidly structured tribute to the famous blends of France’s Southern
Rhône Valley, this wine showcases aromas of earth and purple fruits that leap out of the glass, with meaty
notes and anise. A rich satiny texture is filled with lush dark fruits, black pepper, and an incredibly long, broad
finish.
