Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Appellation: Sonoma Coast
Sensory Notes: Embodying the character and quality of the three vineyards it comes from, this dynamic Pinot Noir combines luxurious fruit with layered complexity. On the nose, aromas of plum, black cherry, rhubarb and sweet baking spices mingle with sophisticated hints of sage, graphite and crunchy fall leaves. The red and black fruits is echoed on the palate, where lively underling acidity frames the blackverry, cherry and pomegrante flavors, while drawing the wine to a long, bright finish.
Winemaking Notes: After a long 2017 growing season on the Sonoma Coast, in the run-up to harvest we had a perfectly timed heat spike, followed by an equally fortuitous cooldown that allowed the grapes to ripen to perfect maturity. For our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, we chose specific blocks of three remarkable vineyards: Three Perch, Jenkins and Stephens. The grapes from all three were harvested by hand at night, and cold soaked for five-to-seven days, with one pump-over a day. Fermentations were done using native yeast, and once fermentation began, we switched to two punch-downs daily. The wine was aged for 11 months in 100% French oak barrels, 40% of which were new.
