Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir
Appellation: Green Valley of Russian River Valley
Sensory Notes: This sensational wine begins by offering dark fruit aromas. From there, clove and sage lead into notes of dried rose and brambly blackberry. A long, satisfying finish ends with luscious, silky tannins.
Vineyard Notes: Charlie Chenoweth's ranch is located in the cool-climate Green Valley Appellation. Situated among giant redwood trees, atop a hill above the fog line, this vineyard produces highly sought-after fruit. The combination of Goldridge and sandy loam soils provides excellent drainage and smaller yields, while the cooler weather allows for extra hangtime. Charlie planted two clones here: the unique CC clone, which was propagated for it's tight, compact clusters and vibrant color and the Elite clone, which produces small berries with loose clusters that give off pomegranate notes.
Winemaking Notes: The 2012 Chenoweth Ranch fruit was hand picked and sorted by clone, then began a five-day cold soak. We very slowly increased the tank temperatures to allow the native yeasts to begin fermentation. The clones were aged separately to allow them to express their personalities.
Enjoy now through 2022.
