2021 Rockpile Zinfandel

VINEYARD NOTES: The Rockpile wine region, perched at elevations ranging from 800 to 2,100 feet in the rugged hills of northwestern Sonoma County, is renowned for its unique terroir. The vineyards are located on steep slopes with well-drained, rocky soils that stress the vines and limit yields, resulting in concentrated and intensely flavored grapes. The region benefits from its proximity to Lake Sonoma, which creates a unique microclimate—balancing the warm, sunny days with cooling breezes and nighttime temperature drops.

SENSORY NOTES: The aromatices of the 2021 Rockpile Zinfandel show delicate notes of black cherry, tobacco, and a distinctive rustic quality with touches of earth and a hint of tomato leaf. As it begins to open, there are intriguing hints of Luxardo cherries. The palate is where this wine truly shines–expressing layers of dark fruit, chocolate, and a whisper of coffee. A hint of strawberry and raspberry cordial adds a bright, tart edge that keeps the wine vibrant.
