High above Lake Sonoma at 1,250 feet, Westphall Vineyard sits on a steep western-facing slope of thin, rocky red volcanic soils. The 2023 Zinfandel shows red currant, tobacco and herbs de Provence, with a distinctive stony minerality, elegant acidity and a satin texture that carries through the lingering finish.

From a small block within the historic Maple Vineyard, Annie’s Block is a limited block-designate Zinfandel with the vineyard’s signature brambly character. The 2023 vintage opens with wild blackberry and cinnamon, followed by a plush, fruit-forward palate and a distinctive note of California bay laurel.

"The aromatics of this wine are extremely expressive, with sour cherry, licorice, lemon peel and white pepper aromas on the nose. The palate evolves into a fusion of cranberry, spiced orange marmalade and forest-floor flavors that finish with a chewy, tannic grip provided by the 10% Syrah in the blend. Lay this down for three to four years and it should absolutely sing."
