istinct vineyards on two ruged hillsides in Sonoma County-that is where we started our passion for syrah at Bella. These two sites, although only about 15 miles apart, could not be any different. We find a time and a place to enjoy each and hold them close to our hearts. Being in small production, they are not easy to find and are generally allocated through our wine club.

The Lily Hill Estate syrah is a slice of the Southern Rhone with its dollop of strawberry fruit, roasted-meat, spicy aromatics and full body. This syrah is usually blended with a large proportion of grenache noir for an extra layer of flavor.

The Big River Ranch syrah shows a range of characters from smoky black fruits and tobacco to chocolate and incense. It is a wine to be cellared and enjoyed in years to come. The vineyard site, a steep south-westerly slope, was proclaimed a site for "Grange-quality syrah" by none other than former Penfolds winemaker, Darryl Groom. Big River Ranch syrah
