Vinification notes:
Zinfandel fruit for our Two Patch was de-stemmed and crushed and then given a two-day cold soak, followed by 14 days of fermentation. Pumpovers were performed in a submerged cap tank twice a day before pressing at full dryness. This kept the skins in constant contact with the wine and ensured a slow, gentle extraction. The wine was aged for 14 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels.

Sensory Notes:
Vibrant aromas of ripe figs and spice get the mouth watering. The Two Patch delivers a dazzling, full-berry character to the palate. It is bright and exuberant all the way through its triumphant blueberry finish. Its wonderful velvet texture and incredibly long, lingering finish makes this wine truly stand out. The Two Patch is approachable now but will drink well for the next 6-8 years.

Vineyard Notes:
This zinfandel is made up of fruit from two premier vineyards in the Alexander Valley. The first is our Big River Ranch, where we hand pick a small section of superbly ripe, intense fruit from the 14 acres of century-old zinfandel vines. The Todd Brothers ranch is blessed with 50-year-old vines perched on a rocky, west-facing hillside, which deliver top-notch zinfandel fruit that is dramatically smooth and rich.

Vintage Synopsis:
2006 was a challenging but rewarding growing season. Cooler fall temperatures made for a prolonged harvest that allowed the grapes to develop deep, rich flavor and color. The brief threat of rain in early October put us on the alert, but with some moderate thinning and cluster sorting, an excellent vintage was achieved.

Strictly limited production. Only 800 cases produced.
