2009 Two Patch zinfandel
variety: Zinfandel
appellation: Alexander Valley
maturation: 12 months in 20% new oak
alcohol: 14.5%

vinification notes: Very select fruit from two acclaimed neighboring vineyards, Todd Brothers Ranch and Big River Ranch, was harvested at ideal ripeness, destemmed and crushed. Each lot was handled separately, and fermentations were carried out in closed-top tanks, with pumpovers performed twice daily. Aging occurred for 12 months in French and American oak, 20% new.

sensory notes: This medium-bodied zinfandel has fast become a Bella favorite for its bright fruit and lush appeal. The spectacular 2009 vintage boasts head-turning blackberry pie and black pepper aromas, followed by bold flavors of tart rhubarb and spice. A long finish of vanilla and sweet oak completes this sublime zinfandel experience.

vineyard notes: Bella Two Patch is grown on two prized “patches” of exceptional vineyard land in northern Sonoma County. Encompassing 14 acres of zinfandel planted in 1905, the ancient, low-yielding vines of Big River Ranch produce superbly ripe, intense fruit, while the renowned Todd Brothers Ranch contains 50-year-old vines perched on a rocky, west-facing hillside.
