The Lily Hill syrah comes from a tiny section of the back hillside of our estate vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. The grapes themselves are nurtured from the onset and the resulting wine has an elegance and a texture that is reminiscent of some of the classic syrahs of France. It begins with a subtle aroma of wild cherry, plum, and black pepper, and broadens on the palate to intense red fruit, cassis, clove, pepper spice, and coffee. The finish is long and sweet, with lovely fruit persisting in the mouth for minutes. Ideal to drink right now, the wine will continue to improve through the end of 2010.
