2007 Lily Hill Estate syrah
Vinification notes: Syrah grapes from our Lily hill estate were hand picked at optimum ripeness before being destemmed and crushed. A 12-day fermentation took place, with pumpovers being performed twice daily.
Sensory Notes: The 2007 vintage of our Lily Hill syrah is an excellent example of how good Dry Creek syrah can be. It begins with an intense bouquet of bright, round fruit and slightly floral components. On the palate it is a big, lushly-textured wine with flavors of plum and earthy spice. Vineyard Notes: Our Lily Hill estate vineyard is located on the western slope of the Dry Creek Valley, directly above our wine cave. Along with our top quality zinfandel vines, we have three blocks of premium syrah planted as well. The heat in this valley brings out brighter and fruitier characteristics than many people expect from this renowned varietal. Vintage Synopsis: In 2007 we experienced a steady summer of warm days and cool, foggy nights, ideal growing conditions for top-notch winegrapes. 2007 wines have excellent concentration with full but soft tannins. The vintage balances power and finesse and is perhaps the best year in Sonoma County in the last decade. Cellar Recommendations: Drink from 2010 through 2016. Strictly limited production. Only 260 cases produced.
